Decide you want it more than you're afraid of it.

This past week has been a whirlwind for me. So many things were going on and in the midst of it all, I said "yes!" to two opportunities which will require a lot of me. Both opportunities come with significant time investments and responsibilities that are new to me. When I finally get a moment to sit down on the couch and think about everything that just happened I can get freaked out a little bit. I can begin to worry about all of the what if's that make taking this step a little (lot) scary.

But here's the thing... both of these new opportunities are ones that move me closer to what I want for myself and toward what I know God is calling me toward. I'll be in a position to serve in capacities that actually make a difference in this city and in people's lives. There's no doubt in my mind that this is what I need to do.

In both instances, I'm the youngest person in the group or on the team so it would have been incredibly easy for me to say no to each of these opportunities. "I have other things going on," "I'm not experienced enough," "I can do it when I'm older," "I'm scared..." The excuses are endless because the fear is real but I'm able to push past that fear knowing that I want it more.

Decide that you want it more than you are afraid of it.
